Snow, Speed Blamed For High Number Of County Traffic Accidents To Begin The Year

GENESEE COUNTY (AP) - Snowier-than-normal weather and people driving too fast are being blamed on a high number of traffic accidents last month on Genesee County highways and roads.

The county 911 data shows dispatches were made for 2,428 crashes. It's the most for any month since December 2010. Last month's numbers also average out to more than 78 crashes per day. And the large number of accidents this winter forced police to regularly close sections of roads, including parts of I-69 and I-475.
