ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) – An autopsy is planned for an elderly man who was found dead inside a portable toilet that he might have been living in for months.
The man’s remains were discovered Sunday by a security guard at a municipal boat launch on 9 Mile Road near Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores, just outside the Detroit city limit.READ MORE: Ribs RnB Music Festival Kicks Off This Weekend In Downtown Detroit
Police said there were no obvious signs of foul play or trauma to the man’s body. An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday to determine a cause of death
Police said the remains were so decomposed, it appears the man could have been dead inside the portable toilet for about five months. Investigators also believe the man might have been using the portable toilet as a shelter during the cold winter. His identity is still not known.READ MORE: Judge Says Michigan Gov. The boat launch site had been closed since October. Authorities said the security guard broke down the portable toilet’s door, which was locked from the inside, and discovered the remains.
The man appears to be an older white male with a brownish/gray goatee and mustache, the Macomb Daily reported. He was wearing a plaid button-up shirt and heavy, dark-colored hoodie.
