By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Ofelia Saenz wants to bring a unique twist to Mexican ice pops to Detroit in the 2014 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest presented by the Detroit Lions.

Saenz, and her business Alegria Pops, was one of 10 semi-finalists announced in the competition to win a $50,000 grant from Comerica Bank and legal, marketing, accounting and IT support from Hatch Detroit.

Alegria Pops offers handcrafted paletas - which are Mexican ice pops - made from scratch.
"using a blend of traditional Mexican flavors and the freshest available ingredients, often combined in unconventional and surprising ways," according to event organizers.
