Fatal Crash On I-75

DETROIT (WWJ) - Icy road conditions, Friday morning, have claimed at least one life.

Michigan State Police said a vehicle was traveling northbound on I-75, near east Warren Ave., when the driver lost control and struck the back of a semi truck.  It happened just before 6 a.m.

The driver, whose name has not been released pending notification of family, excited his vehicle and died near the scene. No one else was in the car.  No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Police said speed may have been a contributor, although alcohol is not being considered a factor in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Michigan State Police Detroit Post at (313) 456-6600.

In Lapeer County, a 16-year old girl was killed in another weather-related crash. Road conditions were expected to improve for the remainder of the day, as temperatures rose above freezing.
