Teen Killed In Multi-Car Crash

LAPEER (WWJ) - Dozens of accidents are being blamed on icy road conditions throughout Southeast Michigan.  In Lapeer County, a deadly pileup claimed the life of a 16-year old girl.

Sheriff's officials said the teen was killed and her 14-year old sister was badly injured in the accident, Friday, along Milleville Road in Mayfield Township.

Deputies on the scene investigating an earlier accident said Anatasia Bader lost control of her car when she swerved on the icy road to avoid some deer.

The teenager got out of her car and was standing behind it when a car, being driven by a 17-year old, lost control and hit the girl.  The 17-year old received serious injuries.

A third car then slid into the pile-up and two middle-aged women in that car were also injured.  Deputies said Friday morning's icy roads were a factor in the crashes.

Earlier, Friday morning, another weather-related fatal crash was reported in Detroit, along I-75. Road conditions were expected to improve for the remainder of the day, as temperatures rose above freezing.
