Harper Woods police said the semi driver lost control of his truck when he was hit by another vehicle on eastbound I-94 near Eight Mile.  The truck went up the embankment and smashed into the rear part of the store before bursting into flames.

The rear corner of the store was boarded up early Sunday, according to WWJ’s Beth Fisher.  The store remains closed.  The health department will have to inspect the damage and approve any reopening.

A spokesman for Kroger said a delivery driver at the store suffered minor injuries.

Michigan State Police are investigating the crash.

A working truck driver dies because another senseless, thoughtless driver is racing through the streets of Detroit and Michigan. Michigan has its own form of terrorism and its on our highways and streets. People are routinely dying because another driver is stupid or careless or drunk or high on drugs or texting or all of them.

Who will be the next to die? YOU?

    Michigan needs to get smarter
