Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) – Know before you go! It's going to be a hot and sunny weekend and the last place you want to get stuck in your car is a traffic jam.

The following construction activities are scheduled. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to adverse weather.

I-696:
In Macomb County, expect a full freeway closure, east and westbound I-696 between Hoover and Groesbeck for overpass demolition, from 11 pm Friday through 5 am Monday. All traffic is routed to the service drives.

I-75:
In Oakland County, pavement repair will close the northbound two-right lanes from Maple to Rochester roads, and the southbound two-left lanes from Square Lake to Adams roads from 9 pm Friday until 9 am Saturday.

In Detroit, expect northbound and southbound I-75 ramps to westbound Davison Freeway to be closed from 6 am to 10 am Saturday. Detours are posted.

I-275:
In Wayne County, from 8 pm Saturday to Noon Sunday, expect double-lane closures on north and southbound I-275 between Ann Arbor and 5 Mile roads.

I-94:
In Detroit, overnight resurfacing has intermittent lane closures on I-94. From 8 pm Thursday to 5 am Friday, two lanes closed on eastbound I-94 from Outer Drive to Moross. From 9 pm Friday to 8 am Saturday, and from 9 pm Saturday to 8 am Sunday, two lanes closed on eastbound I-94 from Moross to 8 Mile.

In Detroit, sign foundation work will close the right eastbound lane at 14 Street, along with Linwood ramp to eastbound I-94 from 7 am to 7 pm Saturday.

In Macomb County, bridge work and barrier wall lighting will close the left lane on eastbound and westbound I-94 from I-696 to 13 Mile from 9 pm Friday to 5 am Monday.

I-96:
In Oakland County, bridge work has a single lane closed eastbound from Kensington Road to Kent Lake Road, westbound from Milford Road to Kent Lake Road from 5 am to 5 pm Saturday.

M-1:
In Oakland County, an intersection upgrade will reduce northbound and southbound Woodward Ave. to a single lane at 12 Mile Road from 6 am Saturday through 5 am Monday.

M-5:
In Oakland County, from 8 am until 1 pm Saturday, eastbound and westbound Grand River Ave. will be closed between Farmington and Grove Street for Farmington Founders Day festival. Detours posted for each direction.

M-8:
In Detroit/Highland Park, expect intermittent double lane closures eastbound and westbound Davidson Freeway between Conant and Oakland avenues from 10 am to 4 pm Saturday.

M-59:
In Oakland County, starting at 9 pm Friday and ending by 9 pm Sunday, expect single and double lane closures on M-59 between Crooks and Ryan roads for ongoing bridge and road repair.

M-39:
In Wayne and Oakland Counties, M-39 Southfield Freeway will remain closed between the Lodge Freeway and Grand River Avenue until late October.
