Arrest Made In Royal Oak Stabbing Death

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Police have made an arrest in the stabbing death of a Royal Oak woman earlier this week.

On Wednesday, officers from Royal Oak and Clinton Township arrested a man who is suspected in the stabbing death of 41-year-old Ranae Chupick.

The suspect was staying at the Charter Oaks Co-Op near Groesbeck and Metro Parkway, about 14 miles from where police say the crime took place.

Chupick's body was found Monday morning in her apartment at the corner of Rochester and Windemere roads. An autopsy determined she died from multiple sharp and blunt force injuries, according to the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office, who ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators said Chupick was attacked and killed inside the unit, although there was no sign of forced entry. Her body was found by coworkers who had stopped by to check on her when she didn't show up for work.

The suspect's name has not yet been released.
