Weather Forecast: Wet, Stormy Morning And Freezing For Afternoon Commute

DETROIT (WWJ) - The weekend snow is getting washed away by heavy rain.

The mild temperatures, pouring rain at times and the melting snow is making for a morning of big mud puddles, lots of hydroplaning possibilities and reduced visibility.

And then after lunchtime it may get worse. Watch for falling temperatures, then falling snow, and possibly slippery driving.

"Scattered showers this morning, eventually it's going to mix with snow, then turn to snow, it could be a problem overnight and even tomorrow morning," said WWJ-TV forecaster Jill Washburn. "The computer models are showing the switchover from rain to snow is going to happen at 5 or 6 p .m."

"If we're lucky, we may be able to get through the bulk of rush hour before it freezes," Washburn said.

Temperatures will be in the mid-30s Tuesday.

Adding to the misery, Washburn said every day this week will have the same routine: Freezing at night and thawing during the day, which is the worst weather scenario for the health of local roads.

"It's really bad for them," Washburn said.
