Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Metro Detroit's freeays will be mainly clear of construction this weekend, but there are some traffic shifts that could cause slow downs or minor backups.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-75:

In Oakland County, as a reminder, the right and center lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed at 12 Mile Road with traffic shifted to the left in order to maintain two lanes. This lane closure is expected to be removed by late afternoon on Sunday, Feb. 12 and will be replaced by a single right lane closure for another 10-days.

Southbound I-75 work is expected to begin Feb. 12 which will result in two lanes open for 10 days. Again, these restrictions are needed for urgent bridge repair.

I-94:

In Wayne County, the right lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed at I-275 from 6 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work. The eastbound I-94 ramps to I-275 will be open.

In Detroit, the left lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed at Van Dyke from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday, and again from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday for bridge work.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the right lane of westbound I-696 will be closed at Schoenherr Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday for sign work.

M-39:

In Detroit, the northbound and southbound M-39 exits to 7 Mile Road will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday for fencing repair. Traffic will be directed to 8 Mile Road.
