HOWELL (WWJ) – We might not be having much snow this winter but there is no shortage of folks not feeling well.

Bouts of cold and flu are taking their toll this winter as a Howell school announces it will be closed Tuesday because of illness.

WWJ Newsradio 950’s Beth Fisher reports that St. Joseph Catholic School in Howell is closed Tuesday because a large number of students and staff are suffering from flu-like symptoms.

The school will be thoroughly cleaned and is expected to re-open on Wednesday.

The flu shut down a Catholic school in Farmington just  last week for a day and in January a Southgate school closed due to flu-like symptoms which resulted in more than 180 students missing school.

do these schools have the same cleaning company? It seems the flu goes around every year but it wasn’t until Southgate schools outsourced their custodians that the schools are not cleaned and sanitized as well that closed the school for a day.
