Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Don't let construction activities spoil your weekend plans.

As WWJ's John Bailey reports, drivers can expect several lane closures on area freeways this weekend.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-75:

In Oakland County, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb 17, southbound I-75 will be reduced to one lane at 12 Mile Road in order for crews to remove the current traffic shift in place for the ongoing bridge repair. After 3 p.m., it is expected that all three lanes on southbound I-75 will be open, and the traffic shift will be removed. Once this occurs, crews will open the westbound 12 Mile Road loop ramp to southbound I-75.

In Oakland County, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb 20, northbound I-75 will be reduced to two lanes at 12 Mile in order for crews to remove the traffic shift. After noon, all three lanes will be open and the traffic shift removed. Once this occurs, crews will open the eastbound 12 Mile Road loop ramp to northbound I-75.

In Detroit, beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday and ending by 6 p.m. Sunday, the right lane of the northbound I-75 connector to M-10 will be closed for maintenance work.

I-96:

In Wayne County, starting at 6 a.m. Saturday and ending by 6 p.m. Sunday, the right lane of westbound I-96 will be closed at Telegraph Road for maintenance work.

I-275:

In Wayne County, bridge maintenance will require the right lane of northbound and southbound I-275 to be closed over Hines Drive from 6 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday.

I-696:

In Macomb County, beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday and ending by 10 p.m. Sunday, the left lane of westbound I-696, and the right lane of eastbound I-696 will be closed at Van Dyke for sign work.

In Macomb County, beginning a 5 a.m. Saturday and ending by 10 p.m. Sunday, the northbound and southbound Mound Road ramps to I-696 will be closed for sign work. Detours will be posted.
