SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) – Know before you go. Orange barrel season is now in full force with several projects getting underway Monday in Southeast Michigan.

The following projects were announced by the Michigan Department of Transportation.  Please note: There is a wind advisory in effect Monday and some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Wayne County, the right lane of westbound I-94 from Outer Drive to M-39 will be closed from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday for sign work.

I-75:

In Wayne County, the existing I-75 sound wall between Brunswick Drive and Deerfield Park will require shoulder closures on southbound I-75. Work hours are restricted to 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. weekdays; all work will be completed by August.

I-696:

In Macomb County, work will begin to resurface more than 2 miles of the eastbound and westbound I-696 service drives between M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) and M-97 (Groesbeck Highway) in the communities of Roseville and Eastpointe.

There will be single-lane closures Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, single-lane closures will be in effect from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. The intersections at Gratiot, Hayes and Groesbeck will have lane restrictions limited to 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on weekdays.

I-275:

In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-275 between Cherry Hill and Plymouth roads will have intermittent single lane closures daily from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. until Friday, April 20

In addition:
The westbound Michigan Ave entrance ramp to northbound I-275 is closed for two weeks. Also, the right shoulder is closed on the southbound I-275 exit to Michigan Ave.

US-12:

In Wayne County, the addition of a right-turn lane on westbound US-12, from the I-275 interchange to northbound Haggerty Road, will require intermittent single-lane closures during active work hours. All work is expected to be completed in August.

NOTE: MDOT Monday postponed work on the Gateway Project near the Ambassador Bridge, because of the high winds.  (Follow Gateway project updates on the project at www.michigan.gov/gateway).
