Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! There's plenty of road work to go around this weekend, so save yourself some time and hassle by planning your route to avoid the many work zones in Metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-75:

In Wayne County, northbound and southbound I-75 will be closed between Fort Street (exit 28 in Rockwood) and Eureka Road (exit 36) in Taylor beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and opening by 9 p.m. Sunday for bridge beam setting. Through traffic will be directed to M-85 (Fort Street). Local traffic can access southbound I-75 at West Road, northbound I-75 at Sibley Road. Lanes and ramps leading into the closure area will be closed starting at 7 p.m.

In Wayne County, the right lane of southbound I-75 will be closed at Cicotte Road in Lincoln Park from 8 a.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Sunday for sign work. In addition, the ramp from Outer Drive to southbound I-75 will be closed.

In Oakland County, northbound I-75 will be reduced to a single lane from Joslyn to Sashabaw roads from 10 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have two right lanes closed from Square Lake to Adams roads from 9 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday for pavement repair.

In Oakland County, northbound I-75 will have the two right lanes closed from Big Beaver to Wattles roads from 8 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday for pavement repair. In addition, the ramps from Big Beaver to northbound I-75 will be closed.

I-275:

In Wayne County, the eastbound Ford Road ramp to northbound I-275 will be closed from 9 a.m. Friday until Oct 1 for bridge work.

In Wayne County, northbound I-275 will be reduced to a single lane from Palmer to Ford roads from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday for ongoing bridge work.

In Oakland County, northbound I-275 will have two lanes closed over 9 Mile Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge maintenance. In addition, the ramps from 8 Mile Road to northbound I-275 will be closed.

I-696:

In Macomb County, westbound I-696 will have a left lane closure just west of Ryan Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday for sign truss work.

I-94:

In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have two lanes closed between Michigan Avenue and West Grand Blvd from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work. In addition, there will be two separate 15-min total closures  at the Trenton Road bridge for beam removal starting at 12:01 a.m. and ending by 6 a.m. Saturday.

In Macomb County, westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane from New Haven Road to 23 Mile Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for ongoing resurfacing work.

In Wayne County, the westbound I-94 ramps to northbound and southbound I-275 will be closed from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday for overhead sign installation.

M-10 (Northwestern Highway):

In Oakland County, the left lane of northbound and southbound M-10 will be closed from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for ongoing road work. The following intersections will have intermittent single lane closures for paving operations during the same time frame: 14 Mile, Middlebelt, 13 Mile and Inkster roads.

M-3 (Gratiot Avenue):

In Macomb County, northbound M-3 will be reduced to a single lane from Cass Avenue to Market Street from 7 a.m. Saturday until 5 p.m. Sunday for ongoing road work.

M-59:

In Macomb County, the two right lanes of westbound M-59 will be closed from I-94 to Card Road from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday for maintenance.

In Macomb County, the two right lanes of eastbound M-59 will be closed from Van Dyke to Hayes from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair.

Beginning the week of Monday, July 23:

I-75:

In Oakland County, intermittent single lane closures on northbound and southbound I-75 at 12 Mile Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily for freeway lighting inspections starting Monday and ending August 1.

In Wayne County, the right lane of southbound I-75 will be closed at Gibraltar Road from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily starting Monday (7/23) and ending Friday (8/3) for maintenance work.

I-94:

In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between 23 Mile and County Line roads nightly starting at 7 p.m. and ending by 6 a.m. the following morning from Monday (7/23) until Friday (7/27) for resurfacing work.

In Wayne County, the Quirk Road pedestrian overpass above I-94 will be closed at 7 a.m. Monday until August 3 for ongoing bridge work.
