Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Road works crews will be out in full force this weekend, so save yourself some time and hassle by planning your route to avoid the many work zones in Metro Detroit.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
I-275:
In Wayne County, northbound I-275 will have two lanes closed at Michigan Avenue from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.
I-94:
In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have two lanes closed from Oakwood to Pelham from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.
In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane closed between Michigan Avenue and I-96 starting at 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.
In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane open between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing road work.
In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have two lanes closed, with two 15-minute total closures at Vining Road from 11 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday for sign truss replacement. In addition, the northbound and southbound Vining Road ramps to eastbound I-94 will be closed.
In Detroit, westbound I-94 will have two lanes closed from West Grand Boulevard to Weir Street from 7 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday, while eastbound I-94 will have two lanes closed from Michigan Avenue to West Grand Blvd from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work.
I-96:
In Wayne County, from 9 a.m. until 3 pm. Friday, the westbound I-96 ramps at Wyoming, Outer Drive and Merriman roads will be closed for maintenance work.
In Wayne County, the left lane of the two lane ramp from westbound I-96 to Telegraph Road will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
M-39 (Southfield Freeway):
In Wayne County, southbound M-39 from Oakwood to Pinecrest, and northbound M-39 from Allen to Van Born, will have only one lane open from 4 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m. Sunday for bridge work.
I-696:
In Oakland County the following ramps will be closed for the Dream Cruise from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m. both Friday and Saturday; eastbound and westbound I-696 to Coolidge, Bermuda, Woodward and Campbell/Hilton.
Beginning Monday, August 20:
I-275:
In Wayne County, beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, the northbound I-275 exit to Ecorse Road will be closed until Sept 21 for ongoing road work.
In Wayne County, beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, the westbound Michigan Avenue ramp to northbound I-275 will be closed until Sept. 21. Drivers can use northbound Newburgh Road to westbound Ford Road to access northbound I-275.
I-94:
In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane nightly from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. starting Monday and ending Friday between 23 Mile and County Line roads for ongoing resurfacing.
M-10 (Northwestern Highway/Lodge Freeway):
In Oakland County, the left lane of northbound M-10 will be closed daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 8 Mile Road starting Monday and ending Friday for sign work.
In Oakland County, the left lane of northbound M-10 will be closed daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Civic Center Drive (Southfield) for sign replacement work
In Detroit, the southbound M-10 exit to Larned Street will be closed Monday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for Cobo Center renovation work.
US-24 (Telegraph Road):
In Wayne County, intermittent single lane closure on northbound and southbound US-24 between I-94 and Northline Road 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily until late Sept for lighting inspections.
