Icy Conditions Reported On Metro Detroit Roads

DETROIT (WWJ) - Although temperatures are several degrees above freezing, light rain which fell earlier Wednesday morning has led to some icy spots on metro Detroit roads.

WWJ Traffic Reporters say there have been numerous reports of accidents across southeastern Michigan due to the icy conditions.

Several tipsters calling the WWJ Newsroom said they were running into multiple patches of black ice in several spots along their commute.

In such conditions, drivers are cautioned to slow down and be alert to slick spots on area roads and highways.

Some problem areas reported are:

  • Northbound Telegraph near Dixie Highway, where four cars are involved in crash
  • Middlebelt, which has been closed between 11 and 12 Mile roads as a result
  • M-14 and I-275, where several spin-outs have been reported
  • I-96 near Howell, where several spin-outs have been reported
