Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - It's the weekend again and that means some metro Detroit roads will have lane restrictions as construction crews work to make minor repairs.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
I-94:
In Detroit/Wayne County, ongoing overnight single lane closures on eastbound I-94, from French Road to 8 Mile Road, and on westbound I-94, from Outer Drive to French Road, starting at 9 p.m. and ending by 9 a.m. on weekends and starting at 9 p.m. ending at 5 a.m. on weekdays.
M-10:
In Detroit/Wayne County, southbound M-10 exit to Larned Street will be closed 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday for the NAIAS Charity Preview.
US-24 (Telegraph):
In Oakland County, permit work will have a single lane closure in both directions of Dixie Highway at Farner Avenue beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and ending by 6 a.m. Monday.
M-5 (Grand River):
In Detroit/Wayne County, signal work will require intermittent single lane closures in both directions of M-5 at Schaefer daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Thursday, January 24.
M-3 (Gratiot):
In Detroit/Wayne County, northbound Gratiot Avenue from Beaubien to I-375 has two lanes closed beginning tonight at 9 p.m. and ending by 3 p.m. Monday for utility work.
M-85 (Fort Street):
In Wayne County, permit work will have a short section of northbound Fort Street closed from Pennsylvania and Sibley Roads beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday and ending by 5 a.m. Tuesday. A detour will be posted. Read more about this closure, here.
Beginning the week of Monday, January 21:
I-94:
In Macomb County, barrier wall work will require intermittent single lane closures of eastbound I-94 from Little Mack to M-59 nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Monday and ending on Thursday, January 31.
In Detroit/Wayne County, expect double lane closures in both directions of I-94 between Michigan and Cecil avenues nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Monday and ending on Thursday for ongoing construction.
I-96:
In Oakland County, the left lane is closed on westbound I-96 at Kent Lake Road from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday for barrier wall work.
