Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! It's the weekend again, and road work crews are expected to be out in full force across metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In St. Clair County, the ramp from the Blue Water Bridge to westbound I-94/I-69 will be closed from 9 a.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Monday for repair. A detour will be posted.

In Macomb County, eastbound I-94 will have one lane open from 11 Mile Road to Masonic Blvd starting at 10 p.m. Friday and ending by 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing paving. In addition, the ramp from eastbound I-696 to eastbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane and the eastbound I-94 exits to 12 Mile Road and Little Mack will be closed during the same time frame.

In Macomb County, westbound I-94 will have two lanes open from Masonic Blvd to 11 Mile Road starting at 10 p.m. Friday and ending by 5 a.m. Monday. During the same time, the westbound I-94 exit to Little Mack will be closed.

In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between Gratiot Ave and Mt. Elliot starting at 4 a.m. and ending by 4 p.m. Saturday for work on the Van Dyke overpass.

I-75:

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have two lanes closed from Giddings to Squirrel roads from 10 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday, and again from 10 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday for maintenance work.

In Oakland County, the right lane of southbound I-75 will be closed from Crooks to Long Lake roads from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday for maintenance work.

I-275:

In Oakland County, northbound I-275 will have the right lane closed from 8 Mile to 9 Mile roads starting at 6 a.m. and ending by 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday for maintenance work.

I-96:

In Oakland County, westbound I-96 will have a single lane open from Beck to Kent Lake roads starting at 10 p.m. Friday and ending by 6 a.m. Saturday, and again from 10 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday for paving.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the right lane of westbound I-696 will be closed from Mound Road to 11 Mile Road starting at 8 p.m. Friday and ending by 3 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair. From 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, the left lane will be closed.

In addition, the ramps from Mound Road to westbound I-696, and the westbound I-696 exit to 11 Mile Road will be closed.

In Oakland County, eastbound I-696 will have the right lane closed near Telegraph Road from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday for maintenance.

M-1 (Woodward Avenue):

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound Woodward will have multiple lane closures nightly from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning between Catalpa Drive and Oakridge Street for paving. From 7 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, the northbound Woodward express lanes under I-696 will be closed for pavement repair. Traffic will be detoured to the local access lanes.

M-10 (Lodge Freeway):

In Detroit, northbound M-10 will have the right and center lanes closed from McNichols Road to Schaefer Highway starting at 9 p.m. Friday and ending by 6 a.m. Monday. From 6 a.m. Monday until the end of October, the right lane will remain closed. The lane closures are needed for the replacement of the retaining wall.

In Oakland County, the left lane of northbound M-10 will be closed at Lahser Road from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work.

M-53 (Van Dyke Freeway):

In Macomb County, 23 Mile Road over M-53 will be closed for ongoing overpass repair starting at 10 p.m. Friday and ending by 10 a.m. Sunday. A detour will be posted.

M-97 (Groesbeck Highway):

In Macomb County, southbound M-97 will be reduced to a single lane from 14 Mile to 11 Mile roads starting at 6 a.m. Saturday and ending at 8 p.m. Sunday for paving.
