Missing Autistic Teen Reunited With Family

DEARBORN (WWJ) - A teenage boy with special needs who ran away from his Dearborn home has been found safe and sound.

Sixteen-year-old Charles Foster was reunited with family members Wednesday morning. Police said they picked Charles up after receiving a call from a citizen who recognized the boy walking in the area of Campbell and 12 Mile in Royal Oak.

Police said Charles literally ran away from his home on the 4600-block of Schlaff. Charles' parents said they were awakened by a noise at around 10:45 p.m. Saturday. That's when they saw Charles as he was leaving, but were unable to catch him as he sprinted from the home, headed north.

Police said it's not the first time Charles, who suffers from autism and bipolar disorder, has run away.
