Police Continue To Search For Clues In April Millsap Murder

ARMADA (WWJ) - Investigators involved in the murder case of Armada teen April Millsap spent time Tuesday afternoon searching along the Macomb Orchard Trail.

A Michigan State Police spokesman said the search was a normal part of the investigation, but there are no updates on the case.

Police disputed reports that indicate investigators found Millsap's personal property in a swimming pool, saying the pool was drained but nothing was found.

Millsap, 14, was found dead near a wooded trail on July 24. There have been no arrests in her death.

One person of interest is in jail on unrelated charges.

Millsap was reported missing by her mother – after she failed to return home from walking her dog, Penny, which she did nearly every night. Her body was found hours later by a couple walking the Macomb Orchard Trail near Fulton and Depot roads.

According to the death certificate filed with the Macomb County Clerk's Office, the teen died of blunt head trauma and asphyxia due to neck compression.

State police have said they have no suspects in custody; and if they have any strong leads, they haven't shared them with the media.

Anyone with information on Millsap case is urged to call police at 877-616-4677. Tips may also be submitted online at www.michigan.gov/michtip.
