(CBS Detroit) -- There has been more speculation surrounding Jim Harbaugh than any other coach in recent memory over the last few months.

Reports of him wanting to stay in the NFL, using an offer from Michigan as leverage and even that he had signed a deal with the Wolverines weeks ago are only a few of the rumors surrounding the 49ers head coach.

Jason Cole of Bleacher Report cited sources within the 49ers organization on Saturday as firmly believing Harbaugh will take the job in Ann Arbor.

"Two members of the San Francisco 49ers staff and a third NFL source said Saturday they expect 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh to accept a six-year, $48 million contract to become the head coach of the University of Michigan.

"That's what everybody on staff believes is going to happen this week," one of the sources said. "Jim has figured out that his style is best-suited for the college game. His shtick works better with young guys who are gone after three or four years.""

The report is just one of many that have said the "Harbaugh to Michigan" scenario is gaining traction. It was even rumored that some Michigan officials have traveled to the Bay area to speak with Harbaugh the moment he finishes what looks to be his last game in San Francisco.
