Another Deep Freeze Day For Metro Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Metro Detroit is bracing for another day of bitter cold Wednesday, with temperatures barely breaking into the teens and arctic winds making it feel even colder.

"After a bitter cold morning, you'll want to watch the wind chill all day because temperatures are topping off around 7 to 13 degrees this afternoon and those wind chill readings could be anywhere between 10 to 15 below zero," said CBS 62 Chief Meteorologist Jim Madaus.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory, in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 4 p.m. Thursday for the entire southeastern Michigan region. Wind chills are expected to get dangerously low during this time period.

"The wind chill Thursday could drop down to 24 below zero, so this cold arctic air will continue to stick around for the next few days," Madaus said.

Forecasters say the coldest wind chills are expected south of the I-94 corridor, where temperatures will be the coldest.

The low wind chills could result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors, make sure to dress in layers and cover as much skin as possible.
