Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - The weekend is here again, which means construction crews are going to be out in full force — especially on I-275, where big delays are expected.

The following road work projects have been announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-275/I-96/M-14 interchange:

Both directions of I-96/M-14 will have only one lane open between Sheldon and Newburgh. Intermittent ramp closures throughout the interchange will be coordinated to allow for detours --  except south I-275 to east I-96, which will close entire weekend.

In Wayne County, east and west I-96/M-14 between Sheldon and Newburgh will have two lanes closed, one lane open, from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work.

In Wayne County, south I-275 ramp to east I-96 ramp will close all weekend from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work. Detour south on I-275 to Ann Arbor Road to north I-275 to east I-96/M14.

In Wayne County, north I-275 ramp to west I-96/M-14 will close intermittently from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work. Detour is north I-275 to 7 Mile to south I-275 to west M-14.

In Wayne County, south I-275 ramp to west M-14/I-96 will close intermittently from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work. Detour south on I-275 to Ann Arbor Road to north I-275 to west M-14/I-96.

In Wayne County, west M-14/I-96 ramp to south I-275 will close intermittently from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work. Detour is north I-275 to 7 Mile to west M-14/I-96.

In Wayne County, west I-96 service drive ramp from Newburgh Road will close from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

In Wayne County, ramps to and from Sheldon Road will also close from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday .

M-153: (Ford Rd)

In Wayne County, east M-153 ramps to north and south I-275 will have intermittent closures from 9 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday. Detour is Haggerty to Michigan Avenue to I-275. I-275 ramps to Ford remain open.

I-96:

In Oakland County, east I-96 from Milford Road to Novi Road will have single lane closure nightly from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Sunday for road work.

I-696:

In Macomb County, east and west I-696 at Schoenherr will have intermittent lane closures form 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday for utility work.

I-75:

In Oakland County, north and south I-75 from 12 Mile Road to Maple will have two lanes closed, one lane open, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for road work.

In Oakland County, north and south I-75 at 13 Mile Road will have one lane closed, two lanes open, from 7 a.m. Saturday through August 31 for bridge work on 13 Mile.

[UPDATE: Bridge work at I-75 and 13 Mile Rd has been delayed and moved from beginning Monday to Wednesday at 9 a.m. There will be only two lanes open on I-75 north and south and only one lane each way on 13 Mile Rd.]

In Oakland County, north I-75 from 12 Mile Road to Big Beaver will have two lanes closed nightly, one lane open, from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Sunday for maintenance.

In Wayne County, south I-75 from Clark to Springwells will have two left lanes closed, two right lanes open, from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work.

I-94:

In Wayne County, west I-94 from Linwood to Wyoming will have two right lanes closed, one lane open, from 11 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for road work.

M-10:

In Wayne County, south M-10 from Meyers to M-8 (Davison) will have two left lanes closed, right lane open, from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work. Ramps from Wyoming, Livernois, Meyers and McNichols to south M-10 will be closed.

M-150 (Rochester Rd):

In Oakland County, north and south M-150 will have two left lanes closed nightly between M-59 and Avon Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Sunday for construction.

In Oakland County, north M-150 from Olde Towne Road to Tienken Road will have single lane closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday for road work.

M-5 (Grand River):

In Oakland County, east and west Grand River between Mooney Street and Liberty Street will close from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday for parade.

US-24 (Telegraph):

In Oakland County, north US-24 from Long Lake to US-24 BR (Square Lake) will have two lanes closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work.

In Oakland County, south US-24 from Orchard Lake to US-24 BR (Square Lake) will have two lanes closed from 1 p.m. Saturday to Friday, July 24 for road work. Two lanes remain open during weekdays, one lane open during weekend. Orchard Lake ramp to south US-24 will be closed.

Construction Continues On... 

I-75:

In Wayne County, north and south I-75 under Woodward (M-1) has a lane closed for M-1 construction until November 2015.

In Wayne County, north and south I-75 ramps to Oakland Avenue and M-1 (Woodward) remain closed until October 2. Detour is northbound or southbound I-75 to westbound McNichols to Oakland Avenue or M-1.

M-53: (Van Dyke)

In Macomb County, north and south M-53 (Van Dyke) between 14 1/2 Mile and 18 Mile roads has two lanes open through September during daytime. Only one lane will be open during overnights and weekends through August 3. Additionally, 15 Mile Road at M-53 has construction with no right turn.

I-69:

In St. Clair County, I-69 from west of M-19 to east of Taylor Road has one lane open in each direction through September 28. The east I-69 exit to Taylor Road is also closed through September 28 for road work.

I-94/I-69:

In St. Clair County, east I-94 from Range Road to Lapeer Road has the left lane closed through September 15.

In St. Clair County, west I-94 from Lapeer Road to Griswold has the left lane closed through September 15.

M-8 (Davison Fwy)/Oakland Ave:

In Wayne County, south Oakland Avenue over M-8 (Davison Fwy) remains closed until October 2 for bridge work. Detour is west M-8 service drive to crossover west of M-1 (Woodward) to east M-8 service drive to south Oakland.

In Wayne County, west M-8 (Davison Fwy) ramp to Oakland Avenue and M-1 (Woodward Avenue) closed until October 2. Detour is west M-8 to north I-75 to west McNichols to Oakland Avenue or M-1.

M-1 (Woodward):

In Wayne County, M-1 between Alexandrine and Kirby streets has multiple lane closures through October for the M-1 rail. Also, M-1 between Adams and Alexandrine and Kirby and Chandler, north of Grand Boulevard.

M-85: (Fort St)

In Wayne County, M-85 (Fort Street) over Rouge River is closed between Oakwood and Miller through Fall, subject to change.
