Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) – The weekend is here again, which means construction crews are going to be out in full force — especially on I-275, where big delays are expected.

The following road work projects have been announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-275/I-96/M-14 interchange:

Both directions of I-96/M-14 will have only one lane open between Sheldon and Newburgh.

Intermittent ramp closures throughout the interchange will be coordinated to allow for detours —  except south I-275 to west M-14, which will close entire weekend. The ramp south I-275 to east I-96 will remain opened. Ramps to and from Sheldon will be closed.

I-275:

In Wayne County, north and south I-275 between 7 Mile and 8 Mile roads will have single left lane closures daily, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until August 31 for median work.

I-75:

In Wayne County, south I-75 from Piquette Street to Ferry Street will have the right lane closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work.

In Wayne County, south I-75 from Clark Street to Springwells will have two left lanes closed 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work.

In Wayne County, north and south I-75 between M-8 (Davison) and Fort Street will have lane closures from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday for construction.

In Oakland County, north and south I-75 at 13 Mile has one lane closed and traffic shifted to shoulder until August 31 for bridge construction.

In Oakland County, north I-75 at Baldwin will have right lane closed from 9 a.m. Thursday to 3 p.m. Saturday for daily construction.

I-94:

In Wayne County, west I-94 from Linwood Avenue to Wyoming Avenue will have two right lanes closed, leaving only one lane open, from 11 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for road work.

In Wayne County, west I-94 from 8 Mile to Connor Avenue will have intermittent right lane and ramp closures from 5 a.m. Saturday to 9 p.m. Sunday for utility work. Only one ramp will be closed at a time.

In Wayne County, east I-94 ramp to north and south M-10 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for closure of south M-10. Detour to I-96 to I-75 to M-10.

M-10: (expect delays)

In Wayne County, south M-10 from Linwood Avenue to I-94 will have two lanes closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work. All exit ramps will be open but on ramps will be closed. At I-94, M-10 closes.

In Wayne County, south M-10 closed from I-94 to I-75 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for road work. Detour: west I-94 to east I-96 to north I-75 to south M-10.

-- South M-10 ramp to Forest Avenue and Warren Avenue
-- South M-10 ramp to Bagley Avenue

-- Forest Ave and Warren Avenue ramp to south M-10
-- Milwaukee St and West Grand Boulevard ramp to south M-10
-- Linwood Avenue ramp to south M-10
-- Glendale Avenue ramp to south M-10
-- Webb Avenue ramp to south M-10
-- Chicago Boulevard ramp to south M-10
-- Clairmount Avenue and Hamilton Avenue ramp to south M-10

M-150: (Rochester Rd)

In Oakland County, north and south M-150 between M-59 to Avon Road will have two left lanes closed nightly from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Sunday for road work.

In Oakland County, north M-150 from Olde Towne Road to Tienken Road will have right lane closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday for road work.

M-153: (Ford Road)

In Wayne County, east M-153 from Marlowe Boulevard to I-275 will have two lanes closed from 9 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday for road work.

M-53:

In Macomb County, north and south M-53 at 27 Mile will have single lane closures from 9 a.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Saturday for bridge work.

M-8: (Davison)

In Wayne County, west M-8 ramp to south M-10 will close 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for M-10 closure.

M-19:

In St. Clair County, north M-19/Gratiot from Harron to Clawson will have single lane closure though 9 p.m. Sunday for road work.

In St. Clair County, M-19 (Main Street) between Kennefic Street to Will Street will be closed from 6 a.m. Friday to 12 a.m. Sunday for local event in Yale.

M-29:

In St. Clair County, M-29 (North Riverside Avenue) from Clinton Avenue to Brown Street will be closed from 6 p.m. Thursday to 12 p.m. Monday for local event.

Construction Continues On...

I-75:

In Wayne County, north and south I-75 under Woodward (M-1) has a lane closed for M-1 construction until November 2015.

In Wayne County, north and south I-75 ramps to Oakland Avenue and M-1 (Woodward) remain closed until October 2. Detour is northbound or southbound I-75 to westbound McNichols to Oakland Avenue or M-1.

M-53: (Van Dyke)

In Macomb County, north and south M-53 (Van Dyke) between 14 1/2 Mile and 18 Mile roads has two lanes open through September during daytime. Only one lane will be open overnights and weekends through August 3.

I-69:

In St. Clair County, I-69 from west of M-19 to east of Taylor Road has one lane open in each direction through September 28. And the east I-69 exit to Taylor Road is closed through September 28 for road work.

I-94/I-69:

In St. Clair County, east I-94 from Range Road to Lapeer Road has the left lane closed through September 15.

In St. Clair County, west I-94 from Lapeer Road to Griswold has the left lane closed through September 15.

M-8 (Davison Fwy)/Oakland Ave:

In Wayne County, south Oakland Avenue over M-8 (Davison Freeway) remains closed until October 2 for bridge work. Detour is west M-8 service drive to crossover west of M-1 (Woodward) to east M-8 service drive to south Oakland.

In Wayne County, west M-8 (Davison Freeway) ramp to Oakland Ave and M-1 (Woodward Avenue) closed until October 2. Detour is west M-8 to north I-75 to west McNichols to Oakland Avenue or M-1.

M-1 (Woodward):

In Wayne County, M-1 between Alexandrine and Kirby streets has multiple lane closures through October for M-1 Rail. Also, M-1 between Adams and Alexandrine and Kirby and Chandler, north of Grand Boulevard, will have multiple lane closures.

M-85: (Fort St)

In Wayne County, M-85 (Fort Street) over Rouge River is closed between Oakwood and Miller through Fall, subject to change.
