2 Hurt When 2 Cars Collide With School Bus In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Two people were hurt in an accident involving a school bus on Detroit's west side.

According to Detroit police, an 18-year-old woman driving a Chevy Monte Carlo was headed westbound on Schoolcraft, at around 8 a.m. Thursday, when blew through a red light, hitting a Ford Taurus driven by a 44-year-old woman.

The crash, police said, resulted in both of the cars colliding with an ABC school bus that was parked on Evergreen..

Both women were taken to a local hospital for treatment of what police described as non-life-threatening injuries. There were no kids on the bus at the time of the accident and the bus driver was not injured.

Police said the 18-year-old was trying to make a left-hand turn onto southbound Evergreen when she disregarded the light, causing the crash. She was ticketed at the scene.

No names were released.
