New Year's Eve Forecast: Cold, Cloudy, Chance Of Snow

DETROIT (WWJ) - If you're planning to celebrate the New Year outdoors, you'll definitely want to bundle up.

Conditions will be mainly cloudy as we go through the day Thursday, and some areas could even see a stray snow flurry. Without much sunshine, temperatures won't reach higher than about 34 degrees.

And that weather pattern will carry into the night. Forecasters say temperatures will be right around 30 degrees when the ball drops at midnight Thursday, but it will feel more like 20 degrees -- perfect weather for snuggling up with that someone special as you usher in the New Year.

The first day of 2016 will be overcast with a few flurries and a high around 29 degrees. Snow is expected, but hardly enough to leave a light coating the ground.

Here's the extended forecast from the CBS Detroit weather team:

Thursday -- Cloudy. A few flurries or snow showers possible. High around 33F. Low 20F.

Friday -- Overcast with a passing flurry. High 29F. Low 24F.

Saturday -- Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy in the afternoon. High 31F. Low 26F.

Sunday -- Partly cloudy with a chance of sun. High 33F. Low 24F.

Monday -- Mostly cloudy. High 27F. Low 18F.
