Friday Wind Advisory: Gusts Up To 50 MPH Could Knock Out Power

DETROIT (WWJ) - Hold on to your hats! It's going to be a windy day in Metro Detroit.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for southeastern Michigan, in effect from noon until 10 p.m. Friday.

Forecasters say sustained southwest winds will reach 20 to 30 miles per hour throughout the day. The strongest winds are expected from mid-afternoon through early evening, with wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph.

During this time, gusty winds may produce sporadic power outages and could cause limbs to fall from trees. Driving may also be difficult, especially on west to east roads.

Winds will diminish during the late evening hours and settle overnight, leaving behind just a gentle breeze for Saturday.

Here's the local forecast from the CBS Detroit weather team:

Friday -- Cloudy with gusty winds. Slight chance of a rain shower. High 53F. Low 30F.

Saturday -- Plentiful sunshine, breezy. High 50F. Low 39F.

Sunday -- A mix of clouds and sun early, then becoming cloudy later in the day. High 44F. Low 32F.

Monday -- Intervals of clouds and sunshine. High 37F. Low 29F.

Tuesday -- Partly sunny; chance of late-night snow showers. High 39F. Low 24F.
