Snow Showers In The Forecast For Metro Detroit This Weekend
DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - No April fooling: Some snow is expected to fall on metro Detroit this weekend.
It may not be a blizzard, but WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Brian Thompson says southeast Michigan is in for cold temperatures through Sunday and into next week — with snow showers at some point a certainty.
"It's going to be pretty chilly this weekend, after we had some pretty nice weekends in March. I guess this is kind of the trade-off," Thompson said.
"Good news is we're not expecting any accumulation tomorrow as temperatures during the day will be above freezing; and this time of year the sun's so high in the sky it's very hard for the snow to accumulate during the day," he said.
The snowfall could begin with some wet stuff as early as Friday night, with temperatures dropping down as low as 32 degrees in parts of the metro Detroit area.
Thompson said it'll be increasingly windy on Saturday with rain and snow showers from late morning on. Looking further ahead: there's also a chance for a little snow Sunday night into Monday — depending on how cold it gets.
Here's the detailed forecast from the CBS Detroit weather team:
Friday Night: A few clouds. A shower of rain or wet snow possible. Low 32F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph. 20% of rain.
