Confirmed: Tornado Touches Down In Northern Michigan [VIDEO]

HERMANSVILLE, Mich. (WWJ) -  The National Weather Service office in Marquette has confirmed that a tornado briefly touched down near rural Hermansville, Michigan, Thursday afternoon.

No one was hurt, but trees were knocked down during the wild weather event — which was captured on video by a brave local resident.

In the short clip, shared on Twitter and Facebook by the NWS and credited to Chelsea Blahnik, a woman is heard telling a child to hurry up and go in the house as a funnel cloud in the distance appears to blow closer.

"Oh, my word!" she exclaims.

It happened at around 4:30 p.m. No significant property damage has been reported.

This was sixth confirmed tornado in the Upper Peninsula this summer. The average is only one per year.

The NWS did not provide details as to the strength of the twister, saying that they're awaiting further information from an official survey to be conducted next week.

Hermansville is an unincorporated community in Menominee County's Meyer Townships, not far from the Wisconsin border.

Meantime, a tornado warning was issued for a short time Friday afternoon in Allegan County, near Grand Rapids in southwest Michigan.

In metro Detroit, it remains quite humid but mostly quiet weather-wise. WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Samuel says there could be shower or thunderstorm on the way, though, that will cool things down a bit for the weekend.
