Thousands Lose Power After Heavy Storms Roll Through Livingston, Oakland Counties

LIVINGSTON COUNTY (WWJ) -- Thousands of residents lost power in the western Metro Detroit area after a line of thunderstorms moved through the area on Friday evening.

Some of the largest outages came in Livingston County, notably around the Howell area. A large outage just north of Howell saw more than 2300 customers affected, according to the DTE Energy outage map.

Almost 600 residents in eastern Ingham County -- in the area of White Oak Township -- were also affected. The largest outage in Oakland County came just west of Milford, where more than 1300 customers lost power in the area of Hickory Ridge Rd. and W. Commerce Rd.

DTE estimates that most of the outages should be repaired around 10 p.m. or later.
