'Geyser' Springs Up On Royal Oak Road As Water Main Break Shuts Down Traffic

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) -- A massive water main break has caused flooding in a Royal Oak neighborhood on Saturday evening.

The break opened up at Campbell Rd. just north of Farnum Ave. Royal Oak police say that Campbell will be shut down between Forest Ave. and Farnum due to the break. Officers said they've "never seen anything like it" as water could be seen shooting dozens of feet into the air.

"I would say it's shooting a couple of stories high, it's that high," WWJ reporter Laura Bonnell said from the scene. "Even in the dark you can see the water just gushing out of the ground.

"It is like a geyser, a water geyser," Bonnell said. "It is a massive open hole where this geyser is just spewing out."
