Looking for hipster heaven? Most of these places have some percentage of what the general population would categorize as hipster-ish, but they are filled with the tragically un-hip as well. So don’t let the hipster stigma deter you, these are just awesome places to go, hipster or not.

The Bronx Bar is fun and is seemingly always filled to the brim with an enthusiastic crowd. And why not? There is an outstanding jukebox where the music keep flowing, fantastic food and on Sundays, DIY bloody marys. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and the staff is amazing.

The Loving Touch features an endless supply of great bands, and holds some other events that are equally enjoyable, like movie night. There is a pool table, where friends and foes alike attempt to squash their opponents before the evening comes to an end. The conversation is always flowing and so are the drinks. The dim lighting and the comfortable seating make it a great place to meet up with friends. The furniture was hand-crafted by one of the owners and is really unique. There is also an atrium that makes the space one of a kind.

Gusoline Alley

Royal Oak, MI 48067

What could be better than a spot that has a jukebox and pinball machines? Nothing. There is a variety of different seating arrangements to choose from, depending if a booth or the bar is more your style. The bartenders are friendly and most people leave with a new friend or two after a few drinks, that’s just how it is. The vibe is as laid back as the crowd, making this the perfect spot to relax and have some low-key fun.

PJ’s Lager House
1254 Michigan Ave.
Detroit, MI 48226
(313) 961-4668

PJ’s Lager House is one of the best places to see bands, and with the bands come the crowd. Who doesn’t love to watch an endless supply of local and national acts perform on almost every night of the week? This place is great and comes equipped with an owner on the pulse of the underground music scene. The kitchen is almost always open, and the food is something to write home about (on a typewriter – for all the hipsters out there).

Whiskey in the Jar
2741 Yemans St.
Hamtramck, MI 48212
(313) 873-4154

Whiskey in the Jar features an everlasting supply of friendly bartenders and customers, and stiff drinks, poured right. The place is cozy and comfortable, reinforced by the dim lighting and warm welcome people receive when they enter. There is also a jukebox, pool table and enough banter to fill the time until last call comes around. And when it does, you will leave smiling either from the drink you just slammed or from the people you just met.
